About

Lanny McDonald

Lanny McDonald was born in Hanna, Alberta, and played junior hockey in Lethbridge and Calgary. Because of the spectre of the now-defunct WHA and the possibility he would not sign with an NHL team, McDonald fell to the Toronto Maple Leafs and became an instant superstar. After a falling out with team management, he found himself in Colorado, playing for the Rockies, before ending his career with a Stanley Cup win in Calgary in 1989. McDonald lives in Calgary with his family and works for the Hockey Hall of Fame.
