Danielle Marcotte was born in Montreal, Quebec in 1950. Following her university degree in literature, Danielle worked in many fields related to writing: journalism, teaching, scriptwriting, publishing, and work in the cultural sector. In 1984, Danielle began to write adult and children’s fiction. With her book Poil de serpent, dent d’araignée, Danielle received the Mr. Christie’s Book Award in 1997. The book also made IBBY’s honor list in 1998. Her children’s novel Les Sabots rouges was a finalist for the Governor General’s Literary Award in 2005. She currently lives in Montreal, Quebec.
