Ian MacQuarrie was born in Hampton, Prince Edward Island, on the family farm. He was educated at Dalhousie University and King’s College, London. McQuarrie is a professor of biology at the University of Prince Edward Island. He has an interest in P.E.I. flora, landscape, folklore, wildlife, resources, and natural areas.
