Sharon M. H. MacDonald is a founding member and former Chair of the Halifax Women's History Society (now the Nova Scotia Women's History Society). She is the co-author of the book Old Nova Scotian Quilts and a co-founder of the Nova Scotia Heritage Quilt Project. Her MA thesis, "Hidden Costs, Hidden Labours: Women in Nova Scotia during Two World Wars," explored the relief work of women volunteers. She has published book chapters and articles in journals and continues to research, write, and publicly present women's history, particularly focussing on early peace activism in Nova Scotia and women's organizational and material culture.
