William Komer was born in Kitchener and lives in London. He attended the University of Waterloo and obtained a BMath in 1985. Interestingly, he also obtained his MD from the University of Western Ontario that same year. Dr. Komer completed a residency in psychiatry at the University of Western Ontario in 1990. He was a Rappeport fellow of the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law from 1989 to 1990. Dr. Komer is currently a part-time assistant professor/adjunct in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Western Ontario. He has worked in forensic services at the Regional Mental Health Care St. Thomas since 1990. Dr. Komer is also currently a psychiatric member of the Ontario Review Board and the Consent and Capacity Board, and is a psychiatric consultant to the North of Superior program.
