Dr. Dawn Kingston is an award-winning researcher and mental health clinician who has worked in medicine for more than twenty-five years, thirteen of those as a registered nurse in a neonatal ICU. She holds a master’s in nursing and a master’s in counselling. She also holds a PhD in mental health from McMaster University and a postdoctoral fellowship in mental health from the University of Manitoba. She is a professor in the Faculty of Nursing at the University of Calgary, the inaugural holder of the Lois Hole Hospital for Women Cross-Provincial Research Chair in women’s mental health, and the first Canadian chair in women’s mental health at the Lois Hole Hospital. She has been awarded the national New Investigator Award from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research for her work in maternal mental health. Dr. Kingston and her team are the developers of the HOPE 3.0 digital mental health platform for women, the first women’s-only mental health resource offering online screening and assessment tools, information, and courses related to a variety of life situations to support women.
