W. Gordon Handcock is Professor Emeritus at the Department of Geography, Memorial University. His research interests include the Lester Diaries 1751–1802 and settlement geography-origins and development and is author of Soe Long as There Comes no Women: English Migration and Settlement in Newfoundland.
