Bob Haber spent twenty-four years at Fidelity Investments. During that time, he formed the research department, the 24-member Team Canada investment management division, and served as Chief Investment Officer from 1997 to 2009. By 2009, Fidelity Investments Canada was annually adding more investor and institutional accounts than all of its competitors. And its Team Canada equity funds ranked tops in the country across 8 out of 9 mandates according to fund rating and research firm, Morningstar Canada. Haber has spoken at industry conferences, been interviewed by a wide variety of business publications and was Morningstar’s Fund Manager of the Year in 2007, 2008 for his work on Fidelity Canadian Balanced Fund. The other fund he managed for Canadian investors – Fidelity Disciplined Equity Fund – is the number one performing fund in its category since its 1998 inception. Haber joined Fidelity in 1985 as a research analyst covering the technology and energy industries and was voted Institutional Investors Analyst of the Year 12 months later. From 1996 through 1997, Haber served as Fidelity’s Director of Research, assumed the role of chief investment officer at Fidelity Canada in 1997 and was Head of Equities for Pyramis, Fidelity’s Institutional Group from 2004 to 2006. Before joining Fidelity, Haber was a management consultant with McKinsey and Company. He began his professional career as a chemical engineer and engineering analyst with Exxon Corporation in 1980. He received a BSc and MSc in chemical engineering from Tufts University in 1979 and 1980, respectively. Haber also received an MBA from Harvard Business School in 1985. Haber established a scholarship and endowed a Chair at Tufts University and is part-owner of the Boston Celtics basketball team and member of its Board of Directors. He currently serves on five charitable group investment committees and is part-owner in four private-equity owned companies. To this day, Haber maintains a consultative role at Fidelity acting as an investment consultant to Crosby Advisors.
