Edward Gates studied Philosophy and Education in the 1970s and later earned a BEd and MA from UNB. His poetry has been published in anthologies, chapbooks, and in three books: The Guest Touches Only Those Who Prepare (Owl's Head, 1991), Seeing the World with One Eye (Broken Jaw, 1998), and Heart's Cupboard (Broken Jaw, 2006). He lives in Belleisle Creek, New Brunswick, where, in addition to writing poetry, he instructs in karate and grows blueberries.
