Paul Heinbecker, a career diplomat, has served both at home and abroad. In 2000 Heinbecker was appointed ambassador of Canada to the United Nations. He is the inaugural director of the Centre for Global Relations at Wilfrid Laurier University and is a Distinguished Fellow at the Centre for International Governance Innovation in Waterloo, Ontario. He lives in Ottawa.
