Catherine Dook was born in the Arctic and taught school across the north. She had never seen a sailboat until she married John and stepped aboard one, embarking on a completely new lifestyle. Her stories have appeared in Boat Journal and Nor'westing magazines. She writes her witty column "Dock of the Bay" for Boat Journal and is also the author of Damn the Torpedoes!: And More Tales of Liveaboard Life.
