Monique Mojica is a Kuna-Rappahannock half-breed, a woman word-warrior, mother, actor, and playwright. Born in New York City, she came to Canada as a founding member of Native Earth Performing Arts and is a former Artistic Director of that company. As a Toronto-based stage, film, and television actor, Monique has performed in numerous acclaimed productions, including creating the role of Marie-Adele Starblanket in The Rez Sisters. She also played the title role in Theatre Passe Muraille's award-winning production of Jessica and was seen as Ariel in Skylight Theatre's production of The Tempest. Princess Pocahontas and the Blue Spots, Monique's first full-length script, was co-produced by Nightwood Theatre and Theatre Passe Muraille and enjoyed a critically acclaimed run at TPM in 1990.
