The real shrine is the Gopher Hole Museum. Its 40-plus miniature displays, with nicely painted backdrops, feature taxidermied gophers dressed in costumes. They whimsically and quite comically depict various aspects of village life, real and fictional—from a wedding and a church service to a hunting scene and a bank holdup.
