Gary Chaimowitz is the head of service of the forensic program at St. Joseph’s Healthcare in Hamilton and academic lead of the Forensic Psychiatry Division at McMaster University. He has been a psychiatrist since 1988, initially working in in-patient and acute psychiatry, until specializing in forensic psychiatry in the mid-1990s. Dr. Chaimowitz is an associate professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences at McMaster University in Hamilton. In addition to sub-specialty forensic psychiatry certification (American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, with added qualifications in Forensic Psychiatry), he has an MBA from the University of Toronto and is a certified physician executive (American College of Physician Executives). He was awarded fellowships of the Canadian (CPA) and American (APA) psychiatric associations.
