About

Rachel Boehm

A dual U.S./Canadian citizen, Rachel Boehm has lived on both sides of the border, but her childhood years in Nova Scotia made a lasting impression. She moved away after high school but, in her heart, Nova Scotia was the place she called home. After high school, Rachel earned her B.A. and M.A. in English with the intent of teaching university one day. However, a job in communications with an international development organization came her way, and she has never looked back. Since then, Rachel has worked in the field of communications and marketing with numerous non-profit and public-sector organizations. She is passionate about writing and its power to effect social change. Rachel is particularly interested in the role of communication in health promotion. Rachel's recent involvement with an early child development research project in Nova Scotia inspired her to write about ways in which parents can nurture healthy early development at home in a child's oh-so-important first six years of life. The outcome was the manuscript for The Ways I Will Love You, which is Rachel's first foray into children's literature. An experienced mother of four, Rachel hopes her book will encourage adults to reclaim the random acts of nurturing that can occur as ordinary life unfolds each day. Having returned to Nova Scotia in 2003, Rachel and her husband and children now live surrounded by lakes and rocky hills in beautiful Fall River, just outside of Halifax.
