Elsie Archer is the second oldest of a family of seven children. She was born in Didsbury, Alberta, in the old sandstone building that still stands on the south side of town. Of Mennonite heritage, Elsie and her siblings were brought up with strong, godly values. Her father was something of an adventurer, so they moved many times, leaving their Mennonite community behind to become members of other evangelical churches. Her parents were both musical and artistic, and passed these traits on to their seven children—there are many artists, singers and creative people in Elsie’s family! After many years working as nurse at the local hospital, Elsie now runs EMA Designs, an art studio and classroom. She loves to paint every day, and shares her passion for art through teaching.
