Dr. Aaro E. Aho (1925–1977) was born in Ladysmith, BC. After obtaining a bachelor's degree in geology from the University of British Columbia, he attended the university of California where he received a Ph.D. in petrology and mineralogy. In 1953 he joined the Geological Survey of Canada.
