Description
Timed to coincide with the International Year of Astronomy, the exhibition Universal Code (Summer 2009) presented responses from a broad range of contemporary artists to cosmology and ideas of the universal in our current information age, which is a time of significant scientific and technological development as well as rampant globalization. The catalogue features essays by Gregory Burke, curator of the exhibition and Director of The Power Plant, and scholar Janine Marchessault. The publication also includes colour reproductions of the works from the exhibition by all twenty-two of the participating artists.
