Sold as a unique combined award-winning coffee table book and double music CD celebrating 32 of Canada’s most beloved pop and folk songs, the bilingual book is produced and co-curated by triple ECMA nominee and classical crossover recording artist Eleanor McCain and renowned photographer V. Tony Hauser. True North: The Canadian Songbook is filled with sumptuous full-colour landscape photography by 22 Canadian photographers, complementary song lyrics, songwriter commentary, portraits featuring Canadian designers by V. Tony Hauser as well as behind-the-scenes shots by photographer Greg Locke. The 32 track double CD that accompanies the book is Eleanor McCain’s sixth studio album and showcases her renditions of classic hits like Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah, Joni Mitchell’s A Case Of You, Neil Young’s Helpless, Jann Arden’s Good Mother, Sarah McLachlan’s Angel, Gordon Lightfoot’s If You Could Read My Mind, and Bryan Adams’ Run To You. Produced by Don Breithaupt and featuring the creations of 14 arrangers and 28 guest artists of national and international repute, the album was recorded with 10 symphony orchestras across Canada.
