The story "There Is a God" was inspired by true events in Shakara’s life. Her hope is that this book will teach children to take their problems to the King, Jesus Christ, in prayer.

Shakara is a devout Christian who loves working with children from all nationalities, and has a passion for writing. She believes that if we were able to view the world through the eyes of a child, the world would be a better place—there would be no need to send our young men and women to fight wars; we would be able to love and forgive each other the way God intended.

Shakara spent the beginning of her childhood as an orphan. She has since learned that that experience was a process. Her past experiences have taught her the importance of trusting God, even in times of adversity.
