The text appears alongside photographs by Davey, selections from the Peter Hujar Archive, and images by Sarah Anne Johnson, Allen Frame, Zoe Leonard, and Gary Schneider.

Moyra Davey's work comprises the fields of photography, film, and writing. She is the author of numerous publications including her latest, The Shabbiness of Beauty (with Peter Hujar & Eileen Myles) (MACK, 2021), and is the editor of Mother Reader: Essential Writings on Motherhood (Seven Stories, 2001). Davey has been the subject of solo presentations at institutions including the Museum of Modern Art, New York (2022); the National Gallery of Canada, Ottawa (2020); Portikus, Frankfurt/Main (2017); Camden Arts Centre, London (2014); and Kunsthalle Basel (2010). Her work is found in major public collections, including the Museum of Modern Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, and Tate Modern in London.
