Description

After an unknown uncle leaves Riley Barnett his estate in Conception Bay, Newfoundland, Riley is lured from her university life in Toronto to Canada's east coast. Conception Bay seems to be a quiet, quaint town full of friendly townspeople. But Riley quickly discovers that her uncle's death is shrouded in mystery and secrets, and also realizes that not everyone in Conception Bay is happy to have her there.

With Paul Sutherland, an attractive and chivalrous local, and a few loyal friends by her side, Riley faces gunshots, break-ins, and worse in her new town. A story about love, friendship, and family secrets, She Came From Away is a chilling mystery from start to finish.

About the author

Contributor Notes

D. Edward Bradley's fascination with foreign places comes naturally. Conceived in Nigeria, Bradley grew up in England and had an early career as a physicist in electron microscopy. After several years of research, he gained his post-graduate degrees from the University of Edinburgh in microbiology while satisfying his wanderlust by partaking in scientific expeditions around the globe. In 1974, Bradley immigrated to Canada and continued his research at Memorial University in Newfoundland. Since retiring in 1995, he has devoted his time to writing at his home in Kingston, Ontario.

Editorial Reviews

"I liked the little twists the author built into the story at the end. It’s not a simple inheritance and fall in love story, there’s more to it. And it’s not something you would guess either. That’s part of what made the story enjoyable for me. Why not give it a read and see if you can sleuth it out before the end?" —Long and Short Reviews

"The suspense and actions caused me to be hooked right away. D. Edward Bradley writes perfectly, putting the reader right into the story. Experiencing exactly what the characters are feeling and doing. The descriptions of the various settings make vivid pictures." —A Novel Review

"Mr. Bradley skillfully steers his readers through the jumble of terrifying events, sharing the emotions of Riley and her boyfriend, Paul, with his readers. All of the characters are highly developed, and it feels as though the reader actually knows them all and shares the fears of the protagonists through the scary adventures." —Dawn Edwards, the Kindle Book Review

"As with all Bradley’s novels, the characters are deliciously defined and the narrative well-written. I consider the works of D. Edward Bradley to be gems, well worth discovering." —Midwest Book Review
