She was a columnist at The Globe and Mail for 21 years before going to The Toronto Star as business editor. She now writes a column that appears three times a week in The Star's business section. Her columns also appear in other Canadian newspapers, such as the Halifax Chronicle-Herald, the Kitchener-Waterloo Record, and the Guelph Mercury. She is also a frequent guest on radio and television programs, including TVO's Studio Two and More to Life, and CBC's Marketplace and Newsworld Business.
