Description
It was an event more than 28 years in the making. After falling short with two bids—the first in September 1959—Calgary won the right to host the 1988 Winter Games and put together one of the most memorable Olympic spectacles in history. While Calgary ’88 didn’t include a huge medal haul for Canada, it’s remembered for its sporting legacy and the personalities who participated—from Eddie the Eagle to Elizabeth Manley to the Jamaican bobsled team. On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Calgary Olympics, Sportsnet magazine talked to the people who made the Games all that they were.
