Description
From the critically acclaimed, award-winning creators of Ocean Meets Sky and The Night Gardener comes a whimsical and sweet tale of a young girl who cares for her pet cloud as it grows.
It’s a little out of fashion to buy a pet cloud, but Lizzy doesn’t mind. She’s not looking for a big one or a fancy one, just one that’s right for her. And she finds it in Milo.
Soon, she’s taking Milo out on walks with her family, watering Milo right on schedule, and seeing Milo grow and grow. But what happens when her pet cloud gets too big for Lizzy to handle?

Editorial Reviews
“In delicate gray shading and faded colors, the Fan Brothers’ dreamy, alternative world offers a vision of a different kind of pet, a being that obligingly rains on Lizzy’s plants (a small, faint rainbow hovering just beneath it), alongside an understated meditation on change and letting go.”
— Publishers Weekly
“The Fan Brothers once again bring soft, detailed whimsy to young readers . . . [and] give an original tweak to the too-big-pet storyline, often seen with dinosaurs, that will charm readers of all ages. The limited use of color—buttery yellow, cornflower blue, sherbet green—lends extra magic to the finely lined pencil drawings, especially where a faint rainbow glistens in the cloud’s mist. A sweet, imaginative tale.”
— Booklist
“A dreamy story of caretaking and letting go in the surreally gorgeous picture book Lizzy and the Cloud. This subtle, whimsical reflection on the caretaker relationship provides many openings for discussing growth and letting go.”
— Shelf Awareness for Readers
“A girl with a pet cloud? This unusual relationship gives the Fan Brothers’ Lizzy and the Cloud oh-so-charming magic. Lizzy waters and walks her cloud with tender care, but when it gets big and starts to rumble, she knows it’s telling her something important. Eric and Terry Fan have the ordinary/surreality proportions just right here, with Lizzy’s down-to-earth care for her pet a balance to its meteorological mistiness. The very idea of this fantastical pair is irresistible.”
