Description
Burns has titled this exhibition Terrene. The word is defined as "belonging to the earth or to this world; earthly, worldly, secular, temporal, material, human." Yet, while firmly rooted in the earth's various micro and macro worlds, there is a mystical dimension to Jeffrey Burn's paintings. By sanctifying elements of the land, Burns brings us to a closer appreciation of it, and by working within a garden vocabulary he assists us in rediscovering nature and by invoking the dream, in questioning reality.A co-publication of the Confederation Centre Art Gallery.
