Contributor Notes

My name is Cathy Napier. In the spring of 1999, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I had surgery,

chemotherapy and radiation. Even though I went through a lot, I wanted to do something. So, I

created a booklet of poems. Now, about sixteen years later, I decided to revise my booklet of poems

and share them with you. So, from one breast cancer survivor to another, I hope that this booklet of

poems will help you along the way.

All the best,

Cathy

Excerpt: I've Been There: Poems of a Breast Cancer Survivor (illustrated by Cathy Napier; cover design or artwork by Cecily Napier; preface by John Graham-|Pole)

Are We Human?

There are times when we laugh,

There are times when we cry.

Sometimes we wonder why.

Are we human? Yes, we are.

There are times when we are Not so sure.

But that’s okay,

Because tomorrow, well,

It is just another day.

Editorial Reviews

We think of Cathy as a true arts-for-health practitioner--not least, for her own health and healing. And Cathy's boo, I've Been There, is a lovely marriage of the expressive and healing arts. -John Graham-Pole, MD, MRCP-UK Co-Founder and Director Emeritus, Center for Arts in Medicine, University of Florida
