He set the standard for innovation, creativity, and precision-driven expertise then and has not stopped introducing new takes on the woodturning project since. Now, a new woodturner or expert can gain instruction and insight into his one of a kind style with detailed examinations of 11 of Hogbin's finest efforts. Each project is presented step-by-step so that any woodturner can reproduce it, but the descriptions of his projects and techniques are much more than a DIY "how-to." Hogbin's descriptions make the lathe jump to life, helping novice and pro learn to develop the skills needed to assess a lathe and piece of wood and learn the personalities of both in order to craft a masterpiece. Follow this book's turning methods and new projects—as well as existing efforts—will jump to life. In addition, each project and every page of the book contains interesting autobiographical information, life lessons, and tips Hogbin has collected over the last five decades of trend-setting lathework. Also included are colorful pictures of each project, project steps, and detailed descriptions regarding what the woodturner must do to replicate the work of art Hogbin presents. Each project detailed starts with a lathe. However, it quickly delves into the innovative techniques Hogbin employs to add his own touch to any project. Better, it opens the door for the woodturner to add their own flair and creativity, regardless of their experience level. This book is more than just an instructional; it is a detailed description of a method of woodturning that incorporates both traditional and edgy techniques and provides ample space for individuality as the latheworker crafts their own work of art.
