Description

Tara Hunt offers her story of healing from trauma as a gift to others who are on a healing journey. She presents the most helpful tools and concepts she has applied in her own healing work. Her stunning illustrations capture the essence of each chapter, for example:

Loving Ourselves; Slowing Down; Touching; Writing Ourselves; Reaching Out

Tara’s aim for her book is to present the tools and concepts for healing from emotional wounding in a logical sequence that builds on itself. To create in one place the resource she wishes she’d had access to back when she started her journey of recovery from emotional trauma.

Visual artist Gillian McCulloch knows well the healing trauma journey and praises Tara’s step-by-step approach, which guides the reader from creating safe space and boundaries to reconnecting to and reclaiming one’s body and then how to slowly move out to fully engage in the world again.

Adult literacy specialist Lise de Villiers in the Foreword praises Tara for her courage in writing this book: “She has been brave enough to be vulnerable, always writes from a place of truth, and is inclusive enough to be fair in her analysis of others.”

Lise found the chapter entitled “Slowing Down” instructive for showing how we can reclaim our emotions, become aware of and accept our woundedness, and undo our conditioning.
