Description

Cherie Geauvreau has worked in pharmaceuticals and restaurant management; she has been a fork lift operator, a cook, a house cleaner / technician; she has been a nun. She is a poet and a lesbian. Her natural feeling for language, her ability to push it out and in and under, has been nurtured by such West Coast writers (Cherie lives on Saltspring Island) as Daphne Marlatt, Betsy Warland, Jane Rule and Phyllis Webb. Even the Fawn Has Wings is a first book that arches over a huge mental territory, all the way from male predation and catholic denial to moon-pure whimsy and erotic love. "A carnival behind the eye," a cornucopia of passions, spills out onto the page.
