Description
Doctor Kiss is quite prepared to say yes when she finds a letter asking her to come to the aid of a young knight who has been injured in battle. She waits until after her usual goodnight kisses and hugs from her parents, and then she takes her medical bag and climbs through her bedroom window into a gilded, magical world from the age of chivalry.
Teddy Jam and Joanne Fitzgerald have created a richly satisfying story about a very imaginative young heroine. Winner of the Governor General's Award (Children's Illustration) when it was first published in 1991, this new edition will delight a whole new generation of young readers.
All royalties from the sales of this book will be donated to the Joanne Fitzgerald Fund at IBBY Canada.
About the authors
Teddy Jam (Matt Cohen) was the pseudonymous author of many wonderful children's books, including Night Cars (which Michele Landsberg called "the Canadian Goodnight Moon"), This New Baby, and The Year of Fire, The Stoneboat, The Kid Line and The Fishing Summer, now collected in the anthology How We Were. He was also a novelist who won the Governor General's Award for his last novel, Elizabeth and After.
Joanne Fitzgerald was a very talented illustrator who had a rewarding and prolific career in children's books. She illustrated many well-loved titles, such as The Little Rooster and the Diamond Button (winner of the Mr. Christie's Book Award) and Ten Small Tales by Celia Barker Lottridge, and Emily's House by Niko Scharer. She also wrote and illustrated several books, including This is me and where I am.
