Description

Calvin totes his portable dictionary to the breakfast table, school, baseball practice, and home again, looking for the perfect word to attach to his annoying older brother. It isn't exactly revenge, mayhem, bewilderment, subterfuge, pulverize, or even retaliation, though all those words are close and tempting. The dictionary narrates the building action. That night, when Calvin awakens his older brother by dumping a glass of water on his face, the dictionary is convinced that the word will be "prank" - but that's not quite right either. As the two brothers laugh and exchange high—fives, the best word is revealed at last: it's "family." Backmatter definitions of the featured words complete this eventful tour of a dictionary's pages.
