Description

After the war, Joe and Angelina, my mother, took to frequenting the local legion hall; a house band played there every weekend. It hadn't taken long for the couple's dancing prowess to become known; the other patrons would applaud and move aside when they saw the duo step out onto the floor: the handsome, well-dressed gentleman, and his exquisite, beautiful lady with golden locks that fell to her waist.

How Mother loved it. For a time she would be one in mind and spirit with Joe. For a time she would be his equal.

They wanted passion; I just wanted them to quit fighting. I wanted peace so badly...

The compelling story of a troubled marriage and a family in turmoil.

Winner. 2013 Great Northwest Book Festival.

About the author

Donna Miller always wanted to write a book but never had the time, having spent a couple of her teen years and most of her adult ones raising six children—not bad for an only child. But no regrets. Her children, grandchildren and greats are her “bestest” friends. She spends much of her time writing and, in the summer, working at the Farmers’ Market, gardening and tenting. Donna lives near Asquith, Saskatchewan with her dog, Tikka.
