We are challenged to live our faith in a world driven by never-ending activity and the attainment of career success. In the midst of all this it is easy for us to lose sight of what we are called to be – persons of faith attentive to voice of God.

While spiritual writing abounds for women seeking to integrate faith with their life, few books offer men models for faith-filled living. Yet the Scriptures are replete with examples: Abraham, David, Daniel, Nicodemus, Zacchaeus to name a few. Even in modern times we encounter men who embraced their faith in their daily life, such as Pier Giorgio Frassati, C.S. Lewis and Fr. Michael McGivney. Their stories provide contemporary men examples of others seeking to be faithful to God’s call while wrestling with the many challenges of life.

Through gripping accounts and stimulating reflection questions, Being a Man After God’s Own Heart challenges men to consider the lives of biblical and historic figures to see how they answered God’s call to do extraordinary things. Accessible reflections show us that it is not necessarily through perfection that we live out our vocations, but rather through lives rooted in prayer where we faithfully respond to God’s call. Whether on their own or in small groups, this group will help men discover a real ways to integrate faith with every day life.
