In the 21st century, educational leadership has moved a long way from simply administering policies and operations. Today, educators must contend with a whole new set of forces that are combining and interacting to influence what happens in our schools—cultural and religious diversity, globalization, and environmental concerns are just a few.

Approaches to Educational Leadership and Practice examines this changing landscape. Compiling the work of a wide range of experts in educational studies, this volume is sorted into three broad categories: educational administration, adult and higher education, and ecological and socio-cultural approaches. The concept of educational leadership is broad, and so it is best explored from a variety of perspectives.

Topics include the ethical and professional responsibility school administrators have towards students within sexual minorities, a critique of the business model of educational administration, and the legal responsibilities and tensions faced by school administrators regarding student discipline.
