About the Author
Maurice Cloughley
Maurice Cloughley has lived a life of amazing contrasts, alternating between working in the remotest of little Arctic settlements and sailing the tropical oceans in the ketch, Nanook of the North; he has never owned a house of a car or many other typical 20th-century chattels. All along, Maurice has honed his remarkable skill as both a writer and an artist. He is the author of A World to the West.

Spell of the Midnight Sun
edition:Paperback
Canada's vast Northland drew Maurice Cloughley to the challenge of teaching in remote communities; teacher could mean medical attendant, road foreman and dog-control officer. Unlike others, Maurice didn't head south after a year or two.
