Mark Zuehlke is the award-winning author of the critically acclaimed Canadian Battle Series, the most extensive published account of the battle experiences of Canada’s Army in World War ii. The series is also the most exhaustive recounting of the battles and campaigns fought by any nation during that war to have been written by a single author. In 2014, he won the Governor General’s Award for Popular History, called the Pierre Berton Award, in recognition of his work on this series and in other ways to popularize Canadian history. In 2006, the Canadian Battle Series title Holding Juno: Canada’s Heroic Defence of the D-Day Beaches, won the City of Victoria Butler Book Prize. Of his other six historical works, For Honour’s Sake: The War of 1812 and the Brokering of an Uneasy Peace won the 2007 Canadian Author’s Association Lela Common Award for Canadian History. <br />
Recently, Zuehlke has turned his hand to graphic novels, working with Renegade Arts on a number of projects based on Canadian history. In 2012, he was the co-author of The Loxleys and the War of 1812 and also wrote the script for the sequel, The Loxleys and Confederation. Also a novelist, he is the author of the popular Elias McCann series, the first of which, Hands Like Clouds, won the 2000 Crime Writers of Canada Arthur Ellis Award for Best First Novel.<br />
