About the Author

Lesley Livingston is an award-winning author of teen fiction best known for her Wondrous Strange trilogy. Captivated at a young age by stories of the distant past and legendary heroes and warriors, Lesley developed into a full-fledged history buff and mythology geek. Her fascination with ancient Celtic and classical civilizations—spurred on by recently discovered archaeological evidence supporting the existence of female gladiators—inspired Fallon’s story in The Valiant. Lesley holds a master’s degree in English from the University of Toronto and was a principal performer in a Shakespearean theatre company, specializing in performances for teen audiences, for more than a decade. www.lesleylivingston.com. Starling

When Mason Starling and the other members of Gosforth Academy’s fencing team find themselves trapped in the gymnasium by a fierce storm, they are uneasy. When vile and vicious creatures pour into the building and attack them, their uneasiness quickly gives way to terror. Then a blond-haired, battle-ready stranger who calls himself the Fennrys Wolf enters the fray. By morning, all signs of the creatures and of the Fennrys Wolf have vanished.

Trying to forget what has happened, Mason finds herself unable to stop thinking about the Fennrys Wolf. When he comes looking for her, the two are drawn to one another. He is, however, truly a man of mystery as he remembers nothing about himself except his name. While Mason tries to help him put together the pieces of his past, her family members are working towards their own goal of fulfilling an ancient prophecy, one that will mean the catastrophic demise of the world as we know it. Unbeknownst to Mason, she and the Fennrys Wolf are at the heart of their plans.

In this first book in her latest series, Lesley Livingston picks up the story of one of the most enigmatic and intriguing characters from Wondrous Strange and its sequels. Here, the Fennrys Wolf’s vulnerability and integrity cast him in a very different light. Livingston gives him a starring role and his amnesia provides the perfect opportunity for him to come into his own as a complex and richly multi-faceted protagonist. Once again, while the book is set in modern-day New York City, the story revolves around elements of Norse mythology that are masterfully woven into the tale and set the stage for the books to come. With its broad assortment of diverse characters, the dramatic tension that always lingers tantalizingly just below the surface and the mythic storyline that marches inexorably towards its startling conclusion, this may be Livingston’s strongest work to date.
