Lewis MacKinnon's fourth Scottish Gaelic poetry collection features Gaelic translations of selected poems by Coleman Barks, interpreter of the renowned 13th-century Persian poet Rumi, alongside MacKinnon's own original Gaelic poems. The poems in this bilingual Gaelic-English collection are grouped thematically in sections corresponding to days that are celebrated in the Celtic cultural calendar year in Nova Scotia. The days include the old Celtic holidays of Samhain and Beltain and the feasts of the Celtic saints: St. Bridget, St. Patrick, and St. Columba. MacKinnon is the first poet to translate Rumi into Scottish Gaelic. The audiobook, read by the author, features hauntingly beautiful traditional Celtic and Persian music on guitar, hammered dulcimer, Persian setar, flute, and harp.
