La aventura de estos delicados pajarines comienza con mi madre, que siempre le han gustado mucho, pero no había sido posible el tener ninguno. Un buen día comenta durante la comida que hablando por teléfono con una señora, se escuchaba en el trasfondo un canario cantar y cantar. Le comentó a la señora que se escuchaba bonito aunque un poco lejano. En su turno la señora le plantea que justamente tenía dos canarios en demás y si le parecía se los podía obsequiar pero que no sabía si eran o no parejita. Una semana después, la señora muy amable entregó al par de canarios con todo y su jaulita.
The adventure of these delicate birds started with my mother, who has always liked these birds, but an opportunity had not presented itself to have as them as pets. One day she mentioned during dinner that talking to a lady-acquaintance on the phone she was listening to canaries signing in the background. My mother told her acquaintance how beautiful the signing was, but it felt like the birds were signing from afar. The acquaintance told her that she just happened to have two canaries of an unknown gender that she was looking to give away. If my mother wanted, she continued, she could have them. My mother accepted, and, a week later, the lady-acquaintance dropped the canaries off in a small bird cage.
