Description

A concise full-colour guide to wild birds and birding hotspots throughout southern Ontario

Birdwatching is becoming more and more popular. Identifying species at backyard feeders is popular with young and old alike. Throughout Ontario there are areas internationally recognized for the opportunity to see migrant and breeding birds, such as the tundra swan and the peregrine falcon.
This book introduces more than 200 of the top species found throughout southern Ontario. This convenient guide is designed to allow for quick and easy identification. Original full-colour illustrations by Jeffrey Domm show prominent features that birdwatching enthusiasts can see to identify a species. Text and graphic keys give helpful tips for observing. They also show habit preference, egg (for in-province breeding species), months the bird can be seen in the area, and preferred bird feeder type. The birding hotspot section (with an accompanying map) describes and gives direction to dozens of locations across the southern region of the province where good birdwatching is assured.
The Lorimer Pocketguide to Ontario Birds is a handy reference for beginners and a useful local guide for practised birders.

came too close to its nest....Relying more on visual aids
