Description

See below for English description.

Barbara Reid's brilliant Plasticine art breathes new life into the classic poem - with a Canadian twist!

"Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse". So begins the classic Christmas poem, beloved of Canadian children for generations. Now Barbara Reid's charming animals romp through the story, bringing a lively and very Canadian interpretation to the classic words. Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night!

Contributor Notes

Clement Clarke Moore was born on July 15, 1779. He was an American professor of Oriental and Greek literature. He is generally considered to be the author of the poem A Visit from St. Nicholas, which later became famous as T'was the Night Before Christmas.

Barbara Reid is one of Canada's leading illustrator and author. Her books have won every major children's book award, including the Amelia Frances Howard-Gibbon Award, the Governor General's Award, the Elizabeth Mrazik-Cleaver Award and the Ruth & Sylvia Schwartz Award. She has won the CBA Libris Award for Author of the Year and Illustrator of the Year - in the same year! - and in 1988 became the first Canadian to win the UNICEF-Ezra Jack Keats International Award for Excellence in Children's Book Illustration.
