Bruno Engler was born in Lugano, Switzerland, in 1915. He came to Canada in 1939 and spent over 60 years photographing the Canadian Rockies. The last of the Swiss mountain guides hired by Canadian Pacific he was a climber, ski instructor, cinematographer, occasional actor, writer, story teller and high altitude photographer.
