A Candle For Christmas
by Jean Speare
illustrated by Ann Blades
Tomas, a young native boy, is staying with the reserve nurse while his parents go to check on their cattle. It is a very harsh, cold winter, and although they have promised to return in time for Christmas, they haven't appeared by Christmas Eve.
Tomas falls asleep and dreams of a candle so large that it lights up the night sky. When he awakes he finds that his dream has helped his parents find their way home.
